Workout Log 7/10/2012

Distance: 5.03 mi   Time: 42:40   Avg Pace: 8:29

My sister watched Kisa today so I could make a quick loop in the neighborhoods near my parents' home. It was great to get out for a run after being sick the past two days (yes... I think this may be yet another explanation for my slow mileage on Saturday morning). It was also great to see my pace return to normal.

It's always good to run a different route. I am getting pretty bored with the quick loops around my house. I've exhausted every combination of neighborhood runs for about 5 miles in every direction, and I don't really enjoy running on busy streets for a variety of reasons (having to pause to wait for stoplights, traffic noise, etc). So it was great to run something a little different and yet also very familiar- I spent 16 years of my life in that house and walking those neighborhoods with family and friends, working at the B.V. Starbucks and walking to the middle school up the road. I ran by houses of at least 3 of my closest high school friends. It felt surreal, like I was taking a tour through a previous life. I couldn't help but think that someday I will feel the same way about the neighborhood I live in now.

I had planned on writing a little bit more today, but after a long day with the kiddo I am pretty spent.

P.S. Slight lower back pain on my right side after my workout today. I am not sure if I tweaked it while running or mothering, but I hope it works itself out soon.
